ACCOMMODATION

The exterior of a seven-storey rectangle is finished in red-painted brick with elaborate, temple-style arched doorways. Inside, the dark ochre reception area is dimly lit with statues of mediaeval warriors, massive teak furniture and incredibly elaborate ceiling; even the front desk is a recreation of a Bagan shrine.

Traditional dark wood furnishings also dominate the guest room interiors, with décor inspired by local Mandalay handicrafts: wood carvings, bronze casting and rich tapestry. Modern amenities are provided in the form of satellite TV and contemporary style bathrooms. Head up to the top floor, and the city views from the semi-open air restaurant and bar are almost as impressive as the mural-covered ceiling, bell-shaped bronze chandeliers and delicately carved wooden panelling in the interior design.

An elegant apposition of amber, aubum, cinnamon, ochre and gold, the heritage-themed design of the guest rooms highlight strong artistic traditions of Mandalay - from the bronze wall lamps to the teak bedstead. Smaller rooms are charming and cozy. Bigger rooms are spacious and inspirational. Deluxe for FIT, Superior for GIT is recommended.
